This corridor of I-95 in Palm Beach County, FL for the PBIA project is only 1.8 miles long, between Southern Blvd. and Australian Ave. However, this $110M Interstate expansion project that provides a direct connection to Palm Beach International Airport includes a total of 14 bridges, complex concrete segmental bridge construction, MSE walls, sound walls, and significant earthwork. This Project was awarded the 2005 ASBI “Segmental Bridge of the Year” award. H2R Corp, formerly Williams Earth Sciences, performed dynamic pile testing services, vibration monitoring, construction inspection and some subsurface exploration for this challenging project. Project features include the construction of 14 bridges, facilitating direct access to PBIA, braided ramps eliminating traffic weaves, smooth vertical curves to improve visibility, improved capacity and reduced truck and airport traffic on local arterial roadways.

During the sizable pre-construction condition survey, H2R documented the condition of residential and commercial structures, walkways, driveways, and other features that are visible from the exterior. This included photographic and video graphic documentation, vibration monitoring, and crack surveys. The monitoring program was developed with baseline noise and vibration levels, with studies to define vibration attenuation over distance to further protect the Owner at the areas of interest.
